PostSubject: Polygamist Compound   Thu Apr 24, 2008 11:52 am

I was tryna find the initial article concerning this issue of a Polygamist compound. I'll be honest, I never knew this existed in the US. Question I guess you can call me naive. Anyway, even though I don't believe in men having more than one wife, or men marrying and sleeping with 14 year old girls silent (even though in the bible times, that's usually when girls got married, but I digress), I do appreciate the way these children were raised (aside from the assumed beatings and whatnot). They believe in modest apparel, being very polite, not getting involved with anything secular, praying twice a day with parents, working hard by farming and raising cattle, etc. These kids (though extremely naive and ignorant to the world around them - which is dangerous) are totally ingulfed in their beliefs and way of life, that the world around them doesn't even phase them. They know the meaning of "don't work, don't eat". Our kids now and days complain about doing dishes after dinner. Parents call a McDonald's Value Meal a complete dinner for their kids.

It is sad that in almost every other religion, people are satisfied living a modest, chaste, hard-working life, but we as TRUE christians struggle daily to get it right. Why is it that people who know to do, don't do? And people who don't know the truth, are actually living the way we should (in certain areas)? Suspect Muslims and Jehovah Witnesses have no problem witnessing everyday, putting in long hours for the cause of their god. Yet we sit with our mouths closed, or if we happened to say "GOD bless you" when someone sneezes, or "Have a BLESSED day" we give ourselves a pat on the back thinking we are doing something. Muslim and Jewish women live modest lives, work hard and do right by their children, yet we christian women find our identity outside of the home, trying to build careers, while feeling satisfied letting someone else watch and teach our children. Muslim and Jewish men have no problem with hard work and they teach there children (especially the boys) how to follow in their footsteps at a very early age, while so-called Christian men are absent in their children's lives. Its so embarrassing when you add it up - the amount of truth we know, compared to the truth we actually live out. Why can't we get it right?
No
