Exegesis of Eph 5:18 "And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit."

Ok, the way this passage is interpreted is "Paul tells the Ephesians not to get drunk with wine, BUT TO GET DRUNK WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT".

In order to understand what this means for us, we must understand what it meant for the Ephesians, that is, what Paul actually wanted to express.

First, we must take a look at the WHOLE CONTEXT of Eph. 5:18.

I was reading 1 Timothy 2:8-15 today and got to the part where he talks about women. How is this set of scriptures supposed to be took today?

Quote:8 I desire then that in every place the men should pray, lifting holy hands without anger or quarreling; 9 likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire, 10 but with what is proper for women who profess godliness—with good works. ...

I was reading this prayer made by Jesus to God in Chapter 17 and came to this verse. My question is this. Does this verse mean that the whole prayer includes all believers or does it mean that from 20 to the end includes all belivers or is this verse only talking about the couple of verses before? This verse puts a question mark in my head because of verse 9 (same chapter). When we get to verse 9 we see that he is praying for the disciples only. But if verse 20 includes all of the prayer, ...

I was listening to (yes) WOTM this morning, and they were debating about Imprecatory Prayers - Prayers that ask God to inflict His wrath on our enemies. Let's take a look at Psalms 10:12-18:

10He croucheth, and humbleth himself, that the poor may fall by his strong ones.

11He hath said in his heart, God hath forgotten: he hideth his face; he will never see it.

12Arise, O LORD; O God, lift up thine hand: forget not the humble.

Hey, this is my first topic post in this section.

ANYWAY:

I was listening to WOTM this morning and someone brought up the topic of Hebrews 6:6 and the whole "losing your salvation" situation. Now, I know that it is impossible for someone who is truly saved to lose their salvation. However, can someone enlighten me on what this scripture is talking about? And, to put it into context, I'll submit verses one through 6. Thank you kindly:

What's Good brethren!

Question about the interpretation of scriptures concerning speaking things into existence.

I hear ministers say often - "You've got to speak those things that are not as though they were"

Truth... these scriptures are find in the bible, but are Christians suppose to speak "things into existence". This is something I struggle with since I am moving out of charismatic belief into a reformed mindset

... Is there no happy medium. Is ...

I have been going through Matthew and have some questions. I am going to post all of them in this one post because they are short.

Quote:Passage Matthew 14:22-27:

Jesus Walks on the Water

22Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. 23After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray. When evening came, he was there alone, 24but the boat was already a considerable distance[a] ...
