Any body ever do an in depth study of 1 Corinthians 14:32-35? Holla at me! Or if there are any recommendations for good Corinthians commentaries that would be great.
As a woman I never know how to interpret scripture concerning women's role in the church. I've heard all levels of counsel - I've heard women should not "speak" which includes leading prayer nor a song if a man is present. I've heard women can do everything except pastor, and I've heard that such scriptures were based on Paul's dealings with the Corinthian church and should not be taken to mean women can't do anything-that these scripture no longer apply just like sacrificing animals no longer applies. ( I don't agree with the last view)
I went to this website www.sermonaudio.com and typed in the scriptures you were questioning. I have little understanding so I'm not sure how the three scriptures are related but you can go to this link as well ( yes- I know its long) , and listen to what some of these bible teachers said.
Good looking out, fam. I have to do a paper on these verses and right now I am trying to get to figure out how to approach it.
But I will mos def peep the links to the sermons!
When is your paper due, fam?
Tomorrow I don't have anything planned outside of going to work. If you can allow me some time, I'll address this tomorrow afternoon/evening. Just don't have the time to unpack the verses right now.
_________________ It's true that doctrine divides. It's also true that love unifies. The unity we have in the faith is rooted and grounded in truth and love. Remove truth (right theology and doctrine) from the mix and you have less than Biblical unity. Remove love and you have no unity. Love causes us to seek truth and share that truth with others so that we become more unified. God is truth, and as we are more acquainted with His truth, the closer we are to Him, and the closer we become to each other
The paper's due in a couple of weeks. I have started to do some background reading but my access to a good library is limited to when I'm on campus and that's only for the few hours I have class on Tuesday night. So any help with research is greatly appreciated. This way I get more quality time in the library next week. The other thing is I really want to get a better understanding of the scripture because I want to be able to speak to the issues that are being brought up.
